The short version. Kilowell helps you keep track of your household's usage and costs. Its figures are estimates to help you plan. Your supplier's bill is always the final word. Be kind, keep your sign-in safe, and we will do our best to keep the service running.

1. Agreement

These terms are between you and John Johnson trading as NettForge ("we", "us"), who provide Kilowell. By using Kilowell you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

2. What Kilowell is

Kilowell is a tool for recording meter readings, bills and household costs and for showing usage, costs, forecasts and budgets. It is currently in early access: features may change, be added or be removed, and we may change how it is priced. If we introduce paid plans, we will tell you first and nothing you have already added will be locked away.

3. Estimates, scanning and no advice

Estimates. Costs, forecasts, days-of-power-left and similar figures are calculated from what you enter and the prices you set. They may be wrong or out of date. They are not a bill, a quote or a promise.
Scanning. When you scan a meter, bill or statement, an AI reads it and may make mistakes. You must check what it read before saving. We are not responsible for decisions made on an unchecked reading.
No advice. Kilowell does not give financial, legal, tax or energy advice. It does not connect to your bank or your supplier and cannot pay a bill for you.

4. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for what happens under your account. Give us accurate details and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You must be at least 18 years old.

5. Your content

The information you add is yours. You give us permission to store and process it only to run Kilowell for you and the people you invite, as described in our privacy policy. Only add information you are entitled to add. If you invite someone to a household, they can see what it contains, so invite people you trust.

6. Fair use

Do not misuse Kilowell: no attacking, overloading or scraping the service, no trying to reach other people's data, no using it for anything unlawful. To keep the service affordable we limit how many scans each person can do in a day and, in future, on the free plan each month. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service.

7. Availability and changes

We aim to keep Kilowell available and your data safe, but we cannot promise it will always be available or error-free. Keep your own backup (Household → Back up everything) of anything important. We may update or discontinue features; if we ever close the service we will give you notice and a chance to export your data.

8. Our responsibility

Kilowell is provided "as is", without warranties that it is accurate or suited to a particular purpose, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses from a wrong estimate, a misread scan, a missed bill or lost data. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under law that cannot be limited, including consumer protection law, or our liability for fraud or gross negligence.

9. Ending things

You can stop using Kilowell and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or the law, and will tell you why where we can.

10. Law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, and the courts of South Africa have jurisdiction, but this does not take away any protection you have under the law of the place where you live.
